Arriving in Denmark, we were struck by how flat it was compared to Norway but it made quite a nice change to be in the open and the roads are so much faster! Which was great because we had to drive some way down to Kolding for the night. However, before we could reach our hotel, we had to stop off and collect our missing flysheet, that the very helpful guy had left somewhat hidden outside the factory for us (it was, of course, not open on a Saturday). We found it easily enough (laughing a lot at SatNav Lady’s pronunciation of the road names) and carried on to the hotel. I can’t honestly tell you much about that because, with everything that has happened since, it’s completely gone from my mind. So that means it must have been fine! I know we arrived pretty late. I can remember that it had table football in the restaurant, which the girls were delighted about, and the hotel also housed the Kolding library, which I would have loved a chance to explore.
So, after a few hours sleep, we left for our first holiday treat – Legoland!! There really only is one word to describe it: AWESOME!!! We had so much fun. All the models were fantastic; we loved walking around the mini land. They even had a model of Bergen harbour. We, of course, went on a few rides, which included me accompanying our eldest on the Polar X-plorer rollercoaster. It was not the biggest I’ve been on, but it was pretty thrilling nonetheless – especially when – **SPOILER ALERT** – the carriage went inside a dark building and the track ran out. We then stayed suspended for a few seconds before the floor fell out from under us and we plunged through the ‘ice’ onto the track below. Much screaming, much fun!
We also had to visit the Lego shops, of course. We almost spent as much time in there as in the park while the girls decided how to spend their money. We didn’t actually go into the shop until the time we were meant to be leaving so it was inevitable we would be running behind. As always. But eventually, decisions and purchases were made, and we were on our way to our next destination.
